Piezo Inkjet

Piezo inkjet is the core technology behind the latest generation of inkjet printers - whether flatbed or single pass. It is a technology that is very much in its infancy, but which will continue to have a more significant impact on the traditional print markets.

At Inca, around 20% of our staff work in research and development. I
n such a fast moving sector, they are critical to Inca's success. Launching on average a new product every 9 months, they not only look at new technology that Inca could employ, but also consider how products can be developed to meet changing market requirements.

The combined resources of mechanical designers, software engineers, project engineers and electronics developers help to keep Inca as the industry benchmark. Recent collaboration with technologists at Screen has extended our resources and given Inca access to new technology.

Inca uses its own patented designs in the development of the print modules and colour bars which incorporate the printheads into the finished print carriage. Inca's investment in clean rooms allows it full control of the module from initial manufacture through to the refurbishment and repair of heads from the field.

Inca's partnerships with printhead suppliers and ink manufacturers are critical to the company's development plans. Inca's research team and engineers work closely with these companies testing the latest specifications, recommending solutions and developing new print engines. Inca has a growing patent portfolio based on the important work this team undertake.

In addition to Inca's existing graphics market, there are many packaging companies and industrial manufacturers keen to embrace the benefits that inkjet can offer. This is an area of current development at Inca. (See Inca's "Why not inkjet" guide).
